|Bringing the Arts to Youth...and Youth to the Arts!|
The Bert & Edith Tompkins
In 1974, Groton Center for the Arts (GCA) was incorporated as a regional non-profit arts organization. Their mission was "Building Community Through the Arts," and many communities around Groton greatly benefited from its programs over the years. Though many individuals are to thank for the many wonderful artistic opportunities brought forth by GCA, Bert and Edith Tompkins have continued over the years to support these endeavors and to keep them happening - especially on behalf of children - to this day.
Because GCA was minimized and eventually closed, and because all subsequent iterations of the organization also closed their doors to artistic endeavors in our region, ArtsNashoba came to be. Our vision today, as was GCA's yesterday, is to provide children with opportunities to explore, experience, enjoy and fall in love with the Arts! We provide quality art experiences through dedicated staff and community members who contribute their knowledge and time to the education of the Arts.
Thanks to Bert and Edie Tompkins, ArtsNashoba has available scholarship funds for youth in need, to help keep involved as many kids as possible who want to be creative - whether it's on a stage, on a canvas, or in a studio. Scholarship funds are offered not only for participation in ArtsNashoba's musical theater productions but also for classes and workshop offerings.
